HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On the result:

“The team gave each other everything and worked their tails off all night in a tough place with high altitude. Every one of the guys is exhausted, and they gave what they had. In some ways, it was enough to earn a draw, but an unexpected goal changed that. That’s how things are going for us right now. We just have to hang in there because we are still in contention for the playoffs, but it is another gut punch. All we can do is get back, regroup and try to be better.”

On conceding late goals in back-to-back-matches:

“The guys are gutted. When you lose like that once, it hurts. Do it twice in a row, and it hurts even more. But what do you do? You get back, you train and you try to fix some things. Tonight was also a match we needed to win, but it was tricky. You could lock up shop and take a point, maybe, but we also had to push because we need to make the playoffs. Some other teams around us won, so there is real urgency to stay sound defensively while still getting after it and trying to win. The game was wide open, and in some ways, someone was going to take it. We had a couple of looks to go up 2-1, and they had theirs. That is what this time of year offers, and it is exciting because teams need results. They needed three points, we needed three points, and unfortunately, they were the ones who got them. From an effort standpoint, this group came into a tough place with high altitude, and the effort these guys gave was impressive.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER JACK MCGLYNN

On his goal:

“Scoring felt good, but we are not happy with the loss, so at the end, it doesn’t really matter. I should have scored again and finished the match with a draw. The loss just hurts right now.”

On team mentality to make the playoffs:

“We just have to keep going. I thought we had a good performance today. We created chances, and we need to do better with those chances. The goals we concede were tough and unlucky, but hopefully the bounces start going our way and we can make a run.”
