The Houston Dynamo beat FC Dallas on the road for the first time in over a decade with a 2-0 scoreline. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.
Starters
Jonathan Bond-7.5 (6.92 avg)
Bond didn’t have a ton to do in this game with Dallas lacking a real offensive threat. His save on Anderson Julio’s shot from his own half showed incredible skill. He made three routine saves and kept the sheets clean.
Griffin Dorsey-9.5 (Man of the Match) (7.18 avg)
Dorsey was absolutely incredible in this game, scoring a goal and assisting the opening goal of the game. He was dangerous all night and managed to keep a clean sheet as well. He also earned himself a starting spot in MLS’s Team of the Matchday.
Obafemi Awodesu-8 (5.93 avg)
Femi was straight back into the lineup following his red card against Minnesota and suspension. He had a very good game defensively with some excellent box defending. His passing out of the back was much improved as well.
Pablo Ortiz-7 (6.67 avg)
Pablo followed up his great performance against Minnesota with another clean sheet and solid defending. Nothing spectacular for Ortiz, but he was mostly solid throughout all of his minutes.
Franco Escobar-8 (7.82 avg)
Like Femi, Escobar was right back into the lineup after his two game suspension. Escobar put in another fantastic two-way performance to earn the team a clean sheet and a victory.
Artur-7.5 (6.71 avg)
Artur was his usual solid self, making three interceptions to go along with a steady passing game. He led the team well as the captain in a derby game that could easily get heated and out of hand.
Brooklyn Raines-8.5 (7.21 avg)
Brooklyn had a sensational return to the starting lineup with one of his finest Dynamo performances. He was all over the midfield on both sides of the ball. He was excellent in the second half, particularly showing everyone how it’s done with his incredible work ethic.
Sebastian Kowalczyk-7 (6.21 avg)
Kowalczyk had an excellent day passing the ball with eight progressive passes. Unfortunately, he was not as dangerous in and around the box. He still had a very solid game and was a contributor in this great win.
Amine Bassi-8 (6.57 avg)
Bassi had a fantastic game out of possession. While this was not the most dangerous we have seen Bassi with the ball, he did everything he could for his team, resulting in the victory. He made multiple blocks, tackles, and interceptions to defend from the front while Ezequiel Ponce missed the match.
Jack McGlynn-9 (7.65 avg)
Jack was so close to another man of the match performance following another magical strike from outside the box. You can tell Jack is looking to find himself on that soon to be announced Gold Cup roster with the form he has been in lately.
Ondrej Lingr-5.5 (6.17 avg)
Lingr had to play in a more forward position. He learned what Ponce’s life was like before he showed up with the little help he got in the box. He was just nonexistent for large periods of the game.
Substitutes
Felipe Andrade-7 (7.33 avg)
Andrade came off the bench following his man of the match performance against Minnesota. He was very solid once again, showing he belongs in the first team. It will be exciting to see what he can do for the rest of the season.
Toyosi Olusanya-7
Toyosi saw the most minutes in a match he has seen since coming to Houston. He rewarded Ben Olsen with the assist to set up Dorsey’s game-clinching goal.
Ethan Bartlow and Junior Urso-N/A
Neither player played enough minutes to warrant a rating.
Head Coach
Ben Olsen-8.5 (7.29 avg)
This was the second game in a row where Olsen got things almost perfect. Dallas seemed to have no answer for the Dynamo in the second half with Lucho Acosta being a non-factor for periods of the game. You can never complain with a road clean sheet and victory.
