Houston Dynamo at FC Dallas staff picks

The first Texas Derby of 2026 kicks off tonight. We asked our staff for their predictions on the match between the Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas.

Cristian - no pick
(Record: 2-1)

Rudy - 2-2 draw
(Record: 2-1)

The Texas Derby is just different, and I’ll always hype this matchup up expecting a heated, eventful game. Houston’s defensive issues are worrisome, but it’s clear they can score goals. Give me a high-scoring draw.

Joey - no pick
(Record: 1-0)

Dustyn - 2-2 draw
(Record: 1-2)

It’s a derby. Expect the unexpected. A 2-2 draw with end-to-end action feels like a likely outcome. And with the atmosphere of a derby, and the way things have gone for Houston early on, expect at least one red card.

Manny - 2-2 draw
(Record 2-1)

The Texas Derby is always hard to predict because form goes out the window. With the front line in sync now, the Dynamo can pose a threat to Dallas. The key will be whether the Dynamo can stay organized and solid at the back.

Juan - 1-1 draw
(Record 3-0)

Houston’s first road test comes just a few hours north against FC Dallas. While the Dynamo are currently higher up in the standings, their opponents are looking dangerous. Shaq Moore, despite his shortcomings at the national team level, is a very capable full back in MLS, and it’ll be interesting to see how Houston manage in their back five. Petar Musa is also playing at a very high level (five goals in four matches!), and I don’t expect the Dynamo to fully contain him.

The Dynamo will dominate their first away game of the season and control over 50% possession for the first time this season. They will grab a goal in the first half and hold on to bring all three points back to Houston.
