HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the result:
“It takes organization. It takes leadership, and we let ourselves down in those moments tonight. That singlehandedly cost us the game. There was a real importance to the game in the first half – in the second half, not as much. It is a good reminder for us that we are not good enough to not be super-dialed in in every aspect of the game. That is an area where we were on guard at LAFC. We were focused throughout that game at every moment, as well as the Colorado game before that. That is what allowed us to get those results. Today, in the first half, I thought it was sharp in those moments, and then in the second half we faded a little bit. And that is enough. Again, it is a good reminder for us – a good excuse for me to be clear about when we are good and when we are bad. That was not good enough in the second half, and I take responsibility for that.”
On rotation and player availability:
“We are trying to thread the needle here with minutes. It is a two-day rest now, and it is a two-day rest between this next one and the Open Cup. Ther are going to be shared minutes. Your job within those shared minutes is to be at your best.”
On looking ahead to the next match:
“The reality is that we had two road games with two days in between. It is not an easy task to come here, and we got three points out of the two road games. I am disappointed in some of the moments in the second half, and the way the loss happened. That is not a way you want to lose a game. Those are controllables. Those are things that we have to be better at. But there is no doom and gloom. We will patch ourselves up, and we will get back up for very important stretch here.”
HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER ONDREJ LINGR
On the result:
"It was a bad result for us, and we do not like it. It was a great first half from us where we did really well, but the second half was not as strong. If we kept up the pace of the first half, we would have scored the first goal, but unfortunately, we made some mistakes from their goal kick. That cost us two goals, and we wereunfortunate with the own goal. It was a bad loss, but we will keep pushing with another game in a few days. We will make sure we are ready for that game and win in front of our fans.
On the quick turnaround to the next match:
“The message was clear from the coaches and veterans. We need to keep our heads up despite the loss. We are going into a home game in front of our fans, and then we play St. Louis in the U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinal. We have three really important games left before the World Cup break, and we will do everything to win them all. That is the only thing we can do. We have a great team and staff, and everyone is giving maximum effort. So, we will look to bring some joy to our fans on Saturday by earning three points.”
On Agustin Resch’s performance:
“I only have positive things to say, because (Agustin Resch) has started his professional career really well. He is an important player for us, which is why the coaches play him. He was great in the first half before the planned substitution. From his performances on the pitch to how he is acting in the dressing room, he is impressive for such a young player. If he continues pushing each day, he will be an important defender for Houston in the future. We also have a roster of really great defenders this year who he has learned a lot from. I am really happy that Agustin is part of this team.”
