The Houston Dynamo conceded three times in the second half, losing 3-0 to Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Jonathan Bond - 5.5

RSL had two shots on target and scored three goals. It was that kind of night. You can’t fault Bond for either of Zavier Gozo’s goals but the Dynamo goalkeepers distribution needs improvement.

Franco Negri - 6.5

The Dynamo shifted to more of a back three in this game, with Negri as the left-sided center back. His passing was very good (91%) and he had six defensive contributions.

Erik Sviatchenko - 5.5

Sviatchenko was able to play higher up the field when the Dynamo had the ball and help distribute passes into the attacking third. He led the team with eight defensive contributions but his lack of fitness showed in some vital moments.

Agustin Resch - 7

The rookie continues to impress. He only played the first half but completed 96% of his passes, including one long ball on a dime to Aliyu. Defensively he chipped in with two clearances and two interceptions.

Duane Holmes - 5

Holmes unforunately put the ball in his own net trying to clear Negri’s header off the line. There isn’t much he could do about that. He didn’t add much going forward, with zero succesful dribbles and just one chance created.

Jack McGlynn - 6.5

After his man of the match performance Sunday, McGlynn played just 45 minutes last night. He had two shots from distance, one that forced a good save and one that went just wide. He also set up three chances.

Agustin Bouzat - 6.5

Bouzat’s passing could still improve and he took some ill-conceived shots from well outside the box. Other than that, he was steady in helping the Dynamo maintain shape and retreat defensively.

Hector Herrera - 7

Herrera still has it. He played the whole match last night and created five chances while completing an impressive 77 of 80 pass attempts. He’ll want back his one shot that he skied over early in the first half.

Aliyu Ibrahim - 6.5

Aliyu did what he is primarily in the team for, stretching the field and giving Houston some depth in the attack. He had four tackles as well as he was up and down the left side for the whole match.

Ondrej Lingr - 6

Lingr was very frustrated after the match in the post-game press conference. He got an opportunity to start and was decent, not great. He led the team with four shots, all of them from distance. He will feel he should have capitalized more on his chances.

Nick Markanich - 6.5

Markanich made his first MLS start and was lively in the attacking third. He hit the post on a shot in the first half that he probably should have scored. If that goal goes in, it completely changes the complexion of the match.

Substitutes

Antonio Carlos - 5.5

The veteran came on for Resch at half time. He was perfect in completing 21 of 21 passes but he and Sviatchenko were exposed in the second half when RSL scored their three goals.

Mateusz Bogusz - 5

Bogusz also came on at half time but was pretty invisible in his 45 minutes. He had no shots and created no chances.

Guilherme - 6

Guilherme played 35 minutes and was his usual lively self. He was dropping deep a lot to get the ball and drive forward, a sign of how things were going for Houston and the inability to sustain possession in the RSL half.

Lawrence Ennali - 5.5

Ennali played just ten minutes. He only had five touches and completed two passes.

Ezequiel Ponce - N/A

Ponce came on for the final five minutes and touched the ball twice.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen - 5

Olsen gambled with all three of the Dynamo’s Designated Players on the bench to start the game. Things went well in the first half and if they could have found a goal, this game may have had a different result. Alas, Pablo Mastroeni and RSL made the adjustments in the second half and Houston didn’t have an answer.
