HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the result:
“When you are up 2-0 on the road, the expectation is that you can see out the game and maybe even score more in transition. San Jose are a very difficult team to keep off the board, and this is what the games looks like here. They get exposed with some of the numbers they bring forward, so we did a good job at capitalizing on a few moments, and we had a hot goalkeeper (Jonathan Bond) in the first half that kept us in the game. They were extremely aggressive in the second half, and it was difficult to hold them off. These recent road trips have been a grind, so I am still proud to leave here with a point, and it was impressive from the guys to come back and grab something after being down 3-2.”
On Griffin Dorsey’s performance and recent form:
“Griffin Dorsey is essentially a winger for us. Wingers and attacking pieces need to produce, and he has six assists and two goals right now, so this is what we need. This is what he needs to take his game to the next level, and it has been nice to see. I know he worked on his crossing in the offseason, and we have worked on it with him too. Sometimes it comes with a little exhale in the big moments and just slowing down to make the plays that matter. I am happy for him.”
HOUSTON DYNAMO DEFENDER GRIFFIN DORSEY
On the result:
“We were up 2-0 and wanted the win, but it is a tough place to get a result. San Jose is prone to these types of games. For us to stick with it and get a result in the end is huge.”
On the emotions of tonight’s match:
“It felt like I rode three rollercoasters emotionally. To go up 2-0 was massive, and then to give up three unanswered goals was brutal. But for the group to rally at the end and walk away with a result is huge.”
On his improved crossing:
“It has always been a point of emphasis. Ben Olsen and Josh Wolff have been fantastic in helping to put me in the right spots in training, so that I can continue to get reps and continue to improve. That was also a main point in the offseason, so it is nice to see some of that work paying off, but there is still a lot of work to do.”
