Houston Dynamo at San Jose Earthquakes staff picks

The Houston Dynamo are on the road again for a late-night match on the west coast. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match against the San Jose Earthquakes.

Cristian - 2-2 draw
(Record: 4-10)

It's hard to predict a Dynamo game because nowadays you don’t know for sure who’s going to be the center back pairing. With that being said, the offensive side of the ball has been getting better and better as the season progresses. Like mentioned before, the defense still has room for growth (depending on who starts) and that’s why I have a good San Jose scoring two at home.

Rudy - 2-2 draw
(Record: 5-9)

Houston seems to be finding their rhythm, even after a midweek exit from the U.S. Open Cup. I expect the Dynamo to prioritize possession, looking to control the tempo. However, with Bruce Arena at the helm, San Jose won’t hold back—he’ll unleash their attacking firepower. All signs point to an open, attacking match, and a draw feels like the most likely outcome.

Joey - 2-2 draw
(Record: 4-9)

San Jose likes to play these open games where each team has the most chances created all season. Expect the Dynamo to be able to tear apart the San Jose backline while the Houston struggles to contain some of the league’s best attackers.

Dustyn - 2-2 draw
(Record: 5-9)

San Jose’s offense is going to score, but San Jose’s defense is going to allow chances. The Dynamo will need to take advantage of the frantic back-and-forth that the Earthquakes can get caught up in.

Manny - 1-0 Dynamo win
(Record 5-8)

After their midweek Open Cup loss, the Dynamo look poised to bounce back in league play against San Jose. Interestingly, the Dynamo often manage to get results against California-based teams, regardless of either side’s form—and this matchup feels no different. With key players rested midweek, the squad appears ready to return to business.
