HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the result:
“There is some relief in tonight’s result. Our road form continues to be pretty good. They (St. Louis CITY SC) are a tough team. There was not a lot to lose on their end tonight. They were very aggressive from the get-go, having five or six players past midfield and coming at you fast and furious. However, I am proud the guys showed resilience. This was probably our best game of the year, as far as everybody showing up and emptying the tank. It did get tough down the stretch with St. Louis having some big bodies and good serves in the box. We could have managed it a bit better, so we will evaluate that. But I am thrilled with the three points. This gives us something to hold on to as we continue to push for playoffs.”
On his 150th career MLS regular season win:
:I am just happier for the guys. We had a good week of training, the vibes were positive and before the match, the warmups were great. It just felt right. As far as the 150th win, I see it as a good thing that I still have the opportunity to coach. I am proud to be a part of this club, but again, tonight’s result is mostly about the team. They have put in a lot of work, and it is not fun going through these tough stretches. I feel like this group can finally take the right kind of exhale, and we are ambitious about improving our form at home and making a run for the playoffs.”
On Erik Sviatchenko’s return:
“Erik (Sviatchenko) looked like himself out there. It is just unfortunate that we have not had him all year. It is hard not to think, ‘what if we had Erik– where would we be?’ But the reality is, it does not matter where we are right now. We will put ourselves in a position to keep pushing, get a couple wins and make things interesting.”
HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER DUANE HOLMES
On his first Dynamo goal:
:It feels good. It has been a long time coming and I am just happy to get the first one on the board.”
On the result:
“We knew this was a huge game. The three points are what we came here for, we couldn’t take a draw. It was pure relief to hear the final whistle. We came here, scored three goals and got the job done.”
