The Houston Dynamo beat St. Louis CITY SC 3-2 on Saturday night. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Jonathan Bond - 6

Bond made just one saves and conceded a worldie and a free header. His distribution was not as good as we have seen from him this season either.

Griffin Dorsey - 6.5

Dorsey had a solid defensive performance in addition to what he typically brings going forward.

Antonio Carlos - 7.5

Two late goals spoiled a clean sheet and made the game much closer than it should have been but Antonio Carlos has brought stability to a Dynamo back line that needed it.

Erik Sviatchenko - 7.5

Speaking of stability, the Dynamo are a different team when Sviatchenko is in the lineup. Both goals came after he was subbed off.

Felipe Andrade - 7

Andrade has established himself as a starter and relegated Franco Escobar to the bench. As good as Escobar has been for the Dynamo, it’s impressive that Andrade has outperformed him.

Artur - 6.5

Artur was a passing machine as he usually is. He doesn’t do anything that sticks out but the way he keeps the midfield moving is impressive.

Brooklyn Raines - 7

Raines helped Artur in keeping the ball and moving it into the attack. He has really come into his own this season and is showing to be a solid MLS starter.

Lawrence Ennali - 5

We have all seen what Ennali’s pace can do but he fits this lineup like a square peg in a round hole. He wasn’t successful on any of his take-ons and lost the ball three times.

Jack McGlynn - 7.5

A Jack McGlynn set piece is one of the best weapons the Dynamo have. It proved lethal again with McGlynn picking out Ponce for the opening goal.

Ondrej Lingr - 8 (Player of the Match)

Lingr really stepped it up this week, after I was questioning him last week. He had three shot-creating actions, assisted Holmes’ goal, and was involved in the attack all night.

Ezequiel Ponce - 7.5

Ponce needed a goal and he got it with a great run on McGlynn’s set piece. He made an even better run to dart inside the St. Louis center back and force an own goal for Houston’s second of the night.

Substitutes

Duane Holmes - 7.5

Holmes scored his first MLS goal and it proved to be the match-winner.

Femi Awodesu - 5

St. Louis scored twice when Femi came on and he only completed one pass. His development is still, unfortunately, going slowly.

Franco Escobar and Gabe Segal - N/A

Both came on to see the game out after St. Louis scored their first goal.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen - 7

The Dynamo had a good game plan to keep the ball and get dangerous opportunities. Now, can they keep that up going forward and claw back into playoff contention?
