McGlynn or Out?
Midfielder Jack McGlynn missed last weekend’s loss with an injury and his status for tonight’s match remains a question mark. The Dynamo don’t have a like-for-like replacement in that deeper midfield role to create like McGlynn does. Without him in the lineup they have to play more defensive minded midfielders like Agustin Bouzat, Diadie Samassekou, or even Hector Herrera. If McGlynn is back in the lineup it will give Houston a big offensive boost after being held scoreless last time out.
Rocky Mountain Low
Houston won in Colorado in 2024, their first victory there since 2019. Last season, the Dynamo fell 2-1 after conceding a late Rapids winner. Everyone knows Colorado is a tough place to play. Teams fly in the day before and have limited time to adjust for the altitude and what it does to your body. Ahead of a busy week, with three matches in eight days, the Dynamo will look to get off to a good start in a place that has always been a difficult one to leave with points.
English Influence in Colorado
The Colorado Rapids look very different this season, in large part due to their new head coach Matt Wells. The former Tottenham Hotspur assistant has come in with new tactics and a fresh roster of young players inserted into the lineup. One constant is striker Rafael Navarro, who Dynamo head coach Ben Olsen called “a pain in the ass to play against.” Colorado will be missing multiple defenders through suspension or injury in their new wing back system, similar to how the Dynamo play. Look for Houston to try and use width to break down the Rapids and pick up a result in Colorado.
Houston Dynamo FC – Out: Artur (lower body), Lucas Halter (lower body); Questionable: Jack McGlynn (lower body)
Colorado Rapids – Out: Reggie Cannon (ankle), Ted Ku-DiPietro (shoulder), Connor Ronan (leg), Miguel Navarro (suspension), Jackson Travis (suspension)
