Houston Dynamo vs Austin FC staff picks

The Houston Dynamo will look to build off the four points from their last two home matches as they take the pitch again tonight at Shell Energy Stadium. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match against Austin FC.

Cristian - 1-1 draw
(Record: 3-6)

Houston will dominate the ball as usual, but Austin's tough defense will be hard to break through. On the other side, Austin's attack hasn’t been the greatest but the Dynamo’s defense has been known to gift goals this season. We’ll see a “rivalry” worthy match but lacking goals, in my opinion, as those kind of matches tend to be.

Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 2-7)

I feel the same way this week as I did after the last game—confident. Houston has a new weapon in Ondřej Lingr, whose instinct for sparking explosive attacks and breaking down defenses opens up space for players like Amine Bassi and Ezequiel Ponce to get into dangerous scoring positions. The Dynamo need to defend home turf, and I believe they’ll rise to the occasion against their Texas rivals.

Joey - 1-1 draw
(Record: 2-6)

Neither team is scoring a ton of goals this season. However, Austin’s defense has been holding up and earning them points while the Dynamo’s have not. The health of Erik Sviatchenko will be a massive part of whether the Dynamo can get a result or not. Expect an intense close game that can certainly go either way.

Dustyn - 1-0 Dynamo loss
(Record: 4-5)

This Dynamo attack still needs time to gel. Austin’s new-look offense is also still coming together as a unit but their defense has been top notch. Even without suspended captain Brendan Hines-Ike, Austin will frustrate the Dynamo offense and find a goal to steal the points.

Manny - no pick
(Record 3-6)
