Houston Dynamo vs LA Galaxy staff picks

The Houston Dynamo will look for an elusive home win as they host the MLS Cup champions. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match against the LA Galaxy.

Cristian - 3-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 6-17)

The Galaxy, despite being the reigning MLS Cup champions and boasting plenty of talent in their squad, shouldn’t be overestimated. They’ve been the second-worst team in the league this season and have conceded more goals than anyone else. Even with the Dynamo’s struggles in 2025, this is a prime opportunity to pick up three points at home before the Leagues Cup break—a crucial chance to regroup, recover injured players, and gear up for the final push toward a playoff spot.

Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 9-14)

I want to see Ben Olsen and his coaching staff think outside the box and give opportunities to some of the players we haven’t seen much, especially with forced changes due to the absences of players like Franco Escobar and possibly Ezequiel Ponce—particularly in the attack. Nevertheless, I think this will be a scrappy match, with Houston securing a much-needed win.

Joey - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 7-15)

The Dynamo had a much better showing last week against a strong Philadelphia team. If they repeat that level of performance, they should be able to beat this LA Galaxy team that have struggled to put many points on the board this season. A loss here would be catastrophic for this team.

Dustyn - 1-1 draw
(Record: 7-16)

The Galaxy have played much better lately after thei awful start to 2025, including a dramatic 3-3 draw against their rival LAFC in their last match. This match begins a tough two week stretch for the Dynamo and things won’t get any easier in Leagues Cup.

Manny - 1-1 draw
(Record 7-14)

In theory, the Dynamo should win this game. They’ve historically had the upper hand against California teams, especially at home. However, it’s often in these moments—when they’re expected to take all three points—that they stumble. With the Galaxy starting to find their rhythm and the Dynamo dealing with key defensive absences, this match has the potential to be an entertaining and unpredictable showdown.
