HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN
On the result:
"We are disappointed with the one point. It is better than zero, but not as good as three. We certainly did enough to win, but a few of the chances are just not going in for us right now. It is close, and there is a lot of good. In particular, we really grew into the game in the second half, looking like ourselves and putting them under pressure. I was happy that we showed up with real physicality, edge and grit to match Philadelphia, and that was a good response from the other night. The soccer was good and the chances were there, but it just did not fall for us. Overall, it is a point, and now LA comes to town, so we need all three points there. We keep moving forward."
On Jack McGlynn facing his former team:
"My only advice to Jack was to be himself. I told him not to try and be a hero today. That is how he was going to be at his best. I am happy for him because I know this game meant a lot to him. Three points would have meant even more than the goal itself, but he played very well. Jack showed up, played within himself and created a lot of chances for us. We saw a level of combativeness that we have not seen since the Gold Cup in how he presses, duels and does extra work to help the outside backs. It is not just him. It is a collective effort, and you give yourself a chance in this league when you step on the field with a real edge, fight and commitment.”
On the supporters’ energy:
"The fans were great and part of that is us putting the right energy and commitment out on the field. That added entertainment value tonight, giving El Batallon and all the fans something to cheer about. We felt like the crowd was behind us tonight, and I am thankful they are back."
HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER JACK MCGLYNN
On the result:
“Obviously, you want to win at home. We had the chance to do so, but this was a much better performance than the last game, and we can build off of it. On the celebration, it was a little joke I had with my teammates. They scored and did my celebration, and I could not let that slide, so I celebrated too.”
On appreciating both Philadelphia and Houston:
“I have a lot of love for Philadelphia and for everything they did for me. It is the club that raised me and gave me a chance to become a pro. I love that club and all the people there. So, kissing the Dynamo badge when I scored is nothing against them. It was more about showing appreciation for the Dynamo. They have done so much for me. They rewarded me with a new deal, and they are putting a lot of trust in me, so I wanted to show them that I am happy to be here."
On the Dynamo going down early:
“Philadelphia is a dangerous team and seeing them score first was not ideal, but we knew it was a mistake on our end, and they were not dominating us at the time. We kept our confidence, stayed composed, fought hard and found a way back into the game. We probably deserved all three points, but we will take the one.”
