HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On the result:

“We are certainly disappointed. There was a lot of good tonight and a lot of effort. The guys gave everything, and it just was not enough. There are a whole bunch of reasons that we are not in the postseason. Now it is about finishing the season out the right way with pride.”

On the season’s biggest problem:

“It does not work that way. I wish it did. As players and coaches, we know that we all have to get better, which we are honest about. We are going to go to work in the offseason, and we are going to fix it. We are going to put together a team that will make the postseason next year, and we are not going to be in this place because we have a clear pathway.”

On the message to the team:

“It was not necessarily about tonight. It was about the full season. We are going to take a few days and get away. We will get back to work and try to finish the season in the right way. Then we will get to work figuring out how everyone can get better. Because this year, it was not good enough, and that includes me. I have been through this before, and I have rebounded before, so we will. That is the challenge at hand, and it is a challenge I'm excited about.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER ARTUR

On the result:

"We played good enough to win tonight. We created some chances but gave up some goals. What happened tonight is something that has happened to us this season, so we need to find a balance in that. I believe we are not an easy team to play against and it is difficult to beat us, but we do need to fix the details. There were some good moments from today and some things we need to improve upon."

On going into next season:

"We need to use this year as a learning experience and as way to start the new season better and improved. We need to keep working hard. One thing the group showed time and time again was that we never stopped fighting. There was not a lack of effort from the team. There were a lot of difficult matches this season where we kept pushing for results, but we just need to get back to work and adjust the things we need to adjust."

On missing the playoffs:

"I am very sad because this is my life - our life. We work very hard and sacrifice a lot to play and to win. Every time we start the preseason, we set goals that we want to achieve, and when we do not reach them, it is difficult to take. It is difficult for us and for our fans that we play for. I have grown a lot emotionally, while trying to be an example that my teammates can look up to, but it is not easy. We have to pick ourselves up and try again."

On the hunger of the team:

"There was never a lack of hunger in our desire to win. There was some inconsistency in performances and lineups, but there was never a lack of effort or unity in the locker room. Whenever we were on the pitch, there were some things we needed to adjust in order to make the playoffs, but there was never a lack of desire to win from the team.”
