The Houston Dynamo’s playoff dreams came to an end after a 4-2 loss to San Diego FC on Saturday night. Let’s take a look at how everyone performed.

Starters

Jonathan Bond - 6

Bond conceded four goals while making two saves. None of the goals were really on him, especially the penalty and the late breakaway.

Griffin Dorsey - 6

Dorsey wasn’t on the ball much in this match, with only 34 touches. He created just one shot and had only nine carries.

Pablo Ortiz - 5.5

Ortiz seems to not be able to follow up when he does have good performances and his inconsistency is worrying. With his loan option coming up, the Dynamo front office have a decision to make.

Antonio Carlos - 6.5

The Brazilian had four clearances and three interceptions, a bright spot in a defense that conceded four goals on the night.

Felipe Andrade - 7

Andrade scored again, his fourth in league play. His defensive play is continuing to improve, cementing himself as the left back in Houston for the forseeable future.

Junior Urso - 7

Urso got the assist on Andrade’s goal. He will be 37 years old when next season begins but has filled an important role on the team this year with so much fluidity in the lineup.

Artur - 6.5

Artur’s passing numbers have gone way down this season, a worrying trend for a player that is looked to for combining the defense and attack. His upcoming option will be a huge decision this offseason.

Lawrence Ennali - 6.5

Ennali assisted Houston’s second goal to give them a small lifeline. He only had 20 touches and attempted just nine passes.

Duane Holmes - 5

Holmes completed 9 of 20 passes in the match and had one shot-creating action. As a Jack McGlynn replacement, his performance fell well short.

Ondrej Lingr - 7

Lingr was the most creative player in the Dynamo attack and had five shots of his own.

Ezequiel Ponce - 5

Ponce missed some big chances, including a couple that you expect a DP striker to convert. His inconsistency in front of goal is worrying.

Substitutes

Amine Bassi - 6.5

Bassi has carved out a decent role off the bench but he wasn’t able to do anything substantial to change the match.

Sergio Santos - 7.5

Santos was quiet in his 11 minutes, plus stoppage, but he did finish well for his first goal for Houston to keep the Dynamo alive briefly.

Femi Awodesu and Gabe Segal - N/A

Both came on in the final moments of the match with the Dynamo needing multiple goals.

Head Coach

Ben Olsen - 5.5

This was another game where the Dynamo created chances, they had over two expected goals and 17 shots, but weren’t as lethal as San Diego were. Olsen and the coaching staff have a big task ahead of them this offseason.
