"The positive is that it was a clean sheet, but it was not a good performance from us from an individual standpoint and as a collective. They did a good job of disrupting and pressing us, and we did not do a good job of securing the ball. We grew into the game and started to problem-solve, and the second half was much better, but still not where we needed to be. It was a tough night overall, and we were not the best version of ourselves, but it was a point at the end of the night.”
On handling the San Jose press:
“We knew they would press, and that is fine because we have enough press breakers and ideas in our group to be better on the ball and have more joy. San Jose did a good job, so it is not all on us. They are the first team that has pressed us in a while, and we did not do a good enough job in that area. We are going to see them in two weeks, and the weather there will be a little bit different than it was here. The match will be more fast-paced, so we are going to need to make sure we are a little bit better with the ball and make better decisions when we open the game up.”
On how to maintain their good form:
“We had a good chat in the locker room about who we want to be and the responsibility that comes with being higher up the table. We just took a little bit of a step back, and that is all it takes in this league, a percentage or two from a few guys. The parity in this league is real, so you have to bring it every game. We need to keep that humility and tension within the group. This gives us a chance to regroup and respond when we get back to work next week.
