Houston Dynamo vs St. Louis CITY SC staff picks

The Houston Dynamo are desperate to get back in the win column. We asked our staff for their predictions on tonight’s match against St. Louis CITY SC.

Cristian - 2-1 Dynamo loss
(Record: 6-12)

The Dynamo have either walked off the pitch with a clean sheet or conceded three goals in recent matches—there’s been little in between. Defensively, this team remains an enigma that Ben Olsen is still trying to solve. On the other side of the pitch, the uncertainty is even greater, especially when Jack McGlynn is absent. He’s looked like the team’s lone consistent offensive spark. There are a lot of “ifs” surrounding this squad, and many of them may not be answered until after the summer.

Rudy - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 7-11)

Houston needs to snap its losing streak, but St. Louis is the kind of team that Ben Olsen’s side has consistently struggled against. I expect the Dynamo to come out with urgency at home, which gives them a slight edge. Still, given their inconsistency, a draw or even another loss feels just as likely.

Joey - 2-1 Dynamo win
(Record: 6-11)

St Louis are one for the few teams in just as bad of form as the Dynamo. Ben Olsen has some options in defense again with Erik Sviatchenko back, and the team looked much different when he was subbed out on Wednesday. Hopefully Erik can play longer tonight, along with Lawrence Ennali who adds a layer of depth to what’s been a very shallow and boring offense.

Dustyn - 1-1 draw
(Record: 6-12)

The Dynamo rank among the leaders in MLS in possession. St. Louis is near the bottom. This match is going to come down to Houston taking advantage of the time when they have the ball. This Dynamo team still feels a bit lost at sea, just floating around, trying to find its way. But, a draw is better than another loss, right?

Manny - 3-0 Dynamo loss
(Record 6-11)
