First Meeting

Major League Soccer’s newest expansion team has taken the league by storm and now the Dynamo get their first look at San Diego FC. Houston has yet to win in California this season in their three previous visits to the state, with two draws and a loss. The Dynamo have also struggled with expansion teams in recent history, with a draw a four losses the last five times they have played a team for the first time.

Finding the Attack

We have spoke a lot on here and on the podcast about the Dynamo finding out who their best attacking lineup is. Ezequiel Ponce is the one given in that equation, and his goal last week should help settle any nerves he may have had about being in a slump. Now, who joins him? We saw Duane Holmes start last week with Lawrence Ennali replacing him at half time. Speaking with Ben Olsen, you can tell he wants to give Ennali as many minutes as possible, he just needs to ramp up to it after his injury. Could we see 60 minutes from the German tonight?

Eyes on Anders

San Diego’s Danish winger Anders Dreyer has come to Major League Soccer this season and made things look easy. The 27 year old has 9 goals and 12 assists in 2025 and just won June’s Player of the Month. The MVP front-runner isn’t catching anyone by surprise any more. Olsen said he didn’t know much about Dreyer coming into the league but he is a player that can score with any shot and fits what San Diego does very well. San Diego has put together a great squad that plays very well together, but Dreyer has become the star man, even ahead of Mexican start Chucky Lozano.
