Houston will host its fifth match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup group stage tonight as Cape Verde takes on Saudi Arabia. Both teams have a chance to advance from Group H with a result tonight.

When: Friday, June 26 | 7:00 PM CT kickoff

Where: Houston Stadium; Houston, Texas

TV/Stream: Fox, Telemundo

How to Advance

Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia both have a chance to advance to the Round of 32 coming into this match. A win for Cape Verde will asee them advance. If Saudi Arabia win, they will most likely advance as a third place team or even automatically in second place. A draw won’t be enough for Saudi Arabia but it could get Cape Verde through, depending on what happens in the other Group H match tonight between Spain and Uruguay and results in the other groups. The simple solution for both teams, win and they’re in to the next round.

First Win

Cape Verde, in their first ever World Cup appearance, are looking for their first win in the tournament. They have yet to lose, however, picking up draws in both of their two group stage matches so far. A win would not only get Cape Verde into the next round, but would be a historic achievement for the nation. Saudi Arabia have also yet to win in this tournament, with a draw and a loss in their first two matches. The last time Saudi Arabia won at the World Cup was their opening match in 2022, the historic win over eventual champion Argentina.

The Stage is Set in Houston

Tonight’s match will be the fifth and final match of the group stage at Houston Stadium. The last three matches have seen sell-out crowds and there is more to come. Houston will host two knockout round games, with the first of those match ups now confirmed. Brazil and Japan will face off in the Round of 32 on Monday afternoon. The Bayou City will also host a Round of 16 match between the winner of South Africa vs Canada and the Netherlands vs Morocco. The World Cup has been an incredible experience in Houston and it’s not over just yet.
