El Batallon to honor fallen members

If you’ve ever attended any Houston Dynamo home games, then you know who El Batallon are. They are the band that is up high in the Hustle Town stand, singing, chanting, vibing for the entire game. Sadly, the group lost 2 very fundamental members late in 2023, German Sada and Julian Crane. Both gentlemen were part of the core group that sparked the creation of EB and dedicated their life to make it the supporters group that we know today.

German, also known as Grenas, laid the foundation of what EB would be since 2006. Julian, also known as Kderas, was German’s college friend who shared the passion of soccer and quickly joined the efforts to make the very first Barra Brava in MLS. They were very successful to say the least.

Today, while the family and members of El Batallon, grieve over the loss of German and Julian, they also know the importance of celebrating their lives and impact they had on the community. The group will be holding an event this afternoon to raise funds for the family left behind by the two men, the Ultima Caravana or the Last Caravan beginning at 5pm at Tropidelia (3715 Market St). The event will include multiple DJs and awesome local bands, ranging from cumbia, to ska, to punk and beyond. The group will take a  $25 donation to partake in the variety of drinks that they’ll have available as they want to reach their goal of raising over $12,500. You can bring your own drinks but they kindly ask for no glass containers.

The Houston soccer community is always there, in the good, bad and the ugly. But today let’s raise a drink for German and Julian! And help the group meet their goal. Salud.
