2025 in review
Lisa Boattin joined the Houston Dash at the end of the NWSL secondary transfer window as one of Italy’s most experienced and highly regarded players. Her arrival came at a crucial time for the Dash, who were looking to strengthen their backline, and she was expected to take over the left back position.
Because of the European calendar, Boattin’s integration into the team and league was delayed for much of the second half of the season. Once she reached full fitness and broke into the starting lineup, she brought an explosive presence and the ability to switch play—qualities that helped relieve pressure from Avery Patterson on the opposite flank.
Moment of the season
Even though she only made a few appearances during her short stint with the Dash, Boattin’s standout moment of the season came in her start against the first-place Kansas City Current—where she played a key role in ending their unbeaten streak. In a match Kansas City was expected to dominate, Lisa was instrumental in securing the win. Her four tackles, five interceptions, and several crucial blocks helped neutralize KC’s counterattacks, while her 21 completed passes and 25 carries forward provided the Dash with valuable outlets to build their attack.
Looking forward
Boattin is under contract with the Dash through 2027 and is expected to be the team’s primary left back moving forward. Her experience will be invaluable to the backline, and as veteran Allysha Chapman eventually moves on, Boattin could play a key role in mentoring Anna Heilferty as she develops. With her defensive awareness and ability to contribute in transition, Boattin is poised to be a cornerstone of the Dash defense in the coming seasons.
