Houston Dash vs Angel City FC player ratings

The Houston Dash were outplayed at home by Angel City FC in a 3-1 defeat, despite controlling possession for most of the match. The visitors’ speed in transition and clinical finishing proved too much for the Dash to handle, exposing defensive vulnerabilities throughout the night.
Starters
Jane Campbell – 5
Campbell couldn’t add another clean sheet to her record, conceding twice from long-range efforts that beat her to her right. On Angel City’s third goal, she managed to get her hands to Alyssa Thompson’s shot but failed to redirect it wide. It was not her sharpest outing.
Maggie Graham – 6
Graham filled in at left back due to Natalie Jacobs’ injury. While she wasn’t poor, it was clear she wasn’t fully comfortable in the role. She often deferred back to Katie Lind for safety, losing the confident spark we saw in her earlier appearances this season.
Katie Lind – 5.5
Making her 150th professional appearance, Lind had over 100 touches and completed 93 of her 99 passes. While efficient on paper, she struggled to deal with Angel City’s youthful energy and quick transitions in a tough milestone night.
Paige Nielsen – 5.5
Nielsen had the most touches of any Dash player but struggled mightily in her one-on-one matchup with Alyssa Thompson. A poor pass directly led to Thompson’s third goal, as the youngster blew past her with ease. A frustrating performance from a player expected to lead from the back.
Christen Westphal – 6.5
A tough debut for Westphal, who stepped into the role usually played by Avery Patterson. She lacked sharpness on the ball and didn’t offer enough width or pressure out wide. A tough first impression, though the team’s overall struggles certainly didn’t help her cause.
Danielle Colaprico – 6
Colaprico was caught in no-man’s land on both of Angel City’s first-half goals, unable to close space outside the box. She’s shown better before and will know this was below her usual standards.
Sophie Schmidt – 6
Much like Colaprico, Schmidt failed to close down Angel City’s midfield threats. Additionally, she looked sluggish and a step behind throughout the first half before being subbed off. She looked a shadow of her former self in this one.
Delanie Sheehan – 6.5
Sheehan had some promising moments, particularly with her dribbling and forward intent. She frequently looked to progress the ball but lacked consistent connections with teammates—especially without Evelina Duljan in the squad.
Yazmeen Ryan – 7.6 (Player of the Match)
Ryan was the clear standout for the Dash. Her creativity, work rate, and ball recovery were key throughout. She added her first assist of the season with a perfectly placed pass to Olivieri and constantly tried to lift the team’s energy. A bright spot in an otherwise rough night.
Barbara Olivieri – 7.5
Olivieri continues to blossom in the number 10 role. She led the team with three successful dribbles and was rewarded with a goal, giving the Dash brief hope. With 59 touches in 84 minutes, she needs even more involvement moving forward to unlock her full impact.
Diana Ordoñez – 6.5
Back in the starting XI, Ordoñez looked a bit rusty, which is to be expected. She hesitated on an early chance and was oddly positioned deep in the buildup to Angel City’s second goal. She’ll need time to get back to full rhythm.
Substitutes
Ryan Gareis – 6
Gareis brought energy and width immediately off the bench. Her acceleration and directness stretched Angel City’s backline, but she didn’t see the ball often enough in dangerous areas.
Messiah Bright – 5.5
Bright’s pace helped Houston break lines, but she squandered an opportunity to level the game. Her lack of composure in front of goal continues to be a concern.
Michelle Alozie – 6.5
Alozie entered with momentum swinging in Houston’s favor. In limited time, she completed four passes into the final third and added urgency to the attack. Unfortunately, the third Angel City goal killed off any comeback hopes.
Ramona Bachmann – N/A
Bachmann came on too late to make an impact. With just two touches before Angel City sealed the win, there’s not enough to fairly rate her performance.
Head Coach
Fabrice Gautrat – 6
Gautrat’s lineup choices raised eyebrows, especially the decision to move Maggie Graham to left back and not start Michelle Alozie in Avery Patterson’s role. While injuries limited his options, there seemed to be better solutions available. More concerning is the team’s tendency to react rather than initiate. Training will likely be intense this week as the Dash search for more consistency and resilience.
