Three Players to Watch: Gotham FC

The Houston Dash will look to keep their home momentum going as they’re back at Shell Energy Stadium Saturday night against one of the league’s best teams. Here are three Gotham FC players to keep an eye on in the match.

Jaedyn Shaw

I know we've talked about Jaedyn Shaw countless times, but she has been outstanding this season. Shaw is proving to be the player many expected when she burst onto the scene with the San Diego Wave. With four goals and three assists, she has the support around her and the freedom to dictate matches without carrying the entire burden of the attack. At just 21 years old, she's only scratching the surface of her potential.

Sam Kerr

The veteran forward has returned to the NWSL after establishing herself as one of the world's best. After leaving Chelsea with multiple Women's Super League titles, FA Cups, a WSL Golden Boot, and a runner-up finish for the Women's Ballon d'Or, Kerr is back to help Gotham reach new heights. Chelsea's all-time leading scorer has already recorded one goal and one assist in just three appearances. Don't be surprised if she makes a late push in the NWSL Golden Boot race.

Rose Lavelle

The veteran USWNT midfielder has turned back the clock. After an inconsistent start to the season, Lavelle has rediscovered her best form since the restart. She has been one of Gotham's standout performers, including scoring what could end up being the goal of the season against Washington. Her creativity, work rate, and tenacity have been vital to the midfield, and if she can maintain this level of play, Gotham will be one of the toughest teams in the league to beat.
