Dynamo 2sday: Dos Fall to Minnesota

After clinching a postseason berth against St. Louis last week, Houston Dynamo 2 were unable to get past a stingy Minnesota United FC 2 side, losing 2-0 despite generating plenty of opportunities.
Dos lined up with three defenders in possession while using Myles Gardner as an attacking wingback on the right. Reese Miller also added some threat on the left side, but his positioning was slightly more defensive. Up front, Austin Brummett, Jahmani Bell, and Mattheo Dimareli were tasked with providing the offensive force. In the midfield, it was Gustavo Dohmann and D’Alessandro Herrera operating the double pivot.
Neither side was able to score in the first half, but The Loons opened the scoring in the second. Darius Randell received a backheel pass from his teammate near the six-yard box in the 48th minute, and all he had to do was touch it past goalkeeper Logan Erb, which he did.
Minnesota doubled their lead in the 72nd minute with a penalty kick from substitute Luke Hille. New Dynamo 2 signing Chibuike Ukaegbu committed the infraction inside the box to give the visitors a spot kick.
Houston had opportunities to make the game close as they generated 2.31 xG, according to Sofascore. This result continues a recent slide for the Dynamo, as they’ve dropped points in four straight matches.
