2025 in review

Franco Escobar began the 2025 season as Houston’s starting left back, bringing his trademark intensity, aggressive defending, and emotional spark to the pitch. His leadership and physicality offered stability early in the season, especially during tough stretches when the team struggled to find rhythm.

However, as the season progressed, injuries and inconsistent fitness started to take a toll. Young Brazilian defender Felipe Andrade seized his opportunity and eventually claimed the starting role. Despite the setback, Escobar remained a respected figure in the locker room and continued to show his commitment whenever called upon.

Moment of the season

Escobar’s standout moment came in the dramatic 4–3 win against San Diego. In one of the season’s most chaotic and entertaining matches, he contributed a goal of his own and played with the same passion and grit that have defined his career. It was a performance that encapsulated his spirit — fearless, emotional, and fully committed.

Looking forward

With his contract expiring at the end of the 2025 season, the Dynamo and Escobar parted ways. While his time in Houston ends on a bittersweet note — losing his starting spot but still making meaningful contributions — he leaves as a player who consistently gave everything for the badge. His future now lies outside Houston, as the club moves forward with Andrade and a younger defensive core.
