2025 in review
Griffin Dorsey’s 2025 season mirrored the challenges faced by the Houston Dynamo as a whole — inconsistent team results and defensive struggles. Yet, Dorsey was one of the few constants in the back line. Whether defending or supporting the attack, his relentless work rate and commitment were never in question.
Under Ben Olsen, Dorsey has primarily been used as a right wing-back, tasked with stretching the field and delivering crosses into the box. While he consistently fulfilled his defensive duties and covered large distances up and down the flank, his attacking contributions, particularly the quality and precision of his crosses, fell short of expectations this season. Still, his energy, willingness to press, and tactical awareness made him a reliable presence on the right side of the field.
Moment of the season
Dorsey’s standout “moment” of 2025 wasn’t a single highlight or goal, but rather his season-long consistency. Week in and week out, he was the player opponents could count on to track back, contest every ball, and give 100% effort, no matter the circumstances. That tireless dedication became a defining trait of both his season and his value to the team.
Looking forward
Dorsey’s contract expired at the end of 2025, but Houston quickly exercised their 2026 club option, keeping him in Houston as the starting right-back. Entering 2026, he is expected to continue as a key figure on the flank, providing energy, defensive reliability, and leadership on the right side. While his attacking contributions will need improvement, his work ethic and dependability ensure he remains an integral part of the Dynamo’s defensive structure moving forward.
