HOUSTON DYNAMO HEAD COACH BEN OLSEN

On the result:

“Montréal is a good team in transition, and we got exposed twice by two poor turnovers that cost us. That was the story of the match, and then we had to chase to the very end after we did not capitalize on some early opportunities. We were just not good enough, and our energy was not right. Some of the structure and transition play was not good enough, so that is on me. The good news is we have a bunch of players that want to be on the field, so now it is my job to figure out who are the best ones to put out on the pitch. We have to mix some things up and get guys who have the right mentality and energy out there on the field.”

On his message to the team:

“It is about competition and trying to figure out the best group to put out on the field. Sometimes games make your decisions easy, sometimes they make them hard. I do not think everyone was at their best today, so we are going to find the guys that are ready to roll at their best.”

HOUSTON DYNAMO MIDFIELDER ONDREJ LINGR

On the team’s reaction to the loss:

“We are all disappointed. When I saw the faces in the locker room, everybody was angry. We need to show up on the pitch because we are experienced players. The guys off the bench played really well and helped us. As coach (Ben Olsen) said, it is all about competition right now, and whoever is better at training will play in the matches. We need to push more, and everybody needs to fight for this Club, the fans, the coaches and more. We expect to win home games because of the fans, and this is disappointing for me. I have a lot of emotions, and I hate to lose.”

On what the team needs to improve on:

“We need to do more on the defensive side. That is the whole team, not just the defenders, because it is about all 11 players. If we do not concede goals, we can win every game, because we are a really good team with the ball.”
